THE NEW SAVANT creates daring fragrances that transport you to emotional destinations. Our first offering, premium candles, are made with original scents in eco-friendly packaging.

Our scents are specially co-created with esteemed perfumers from a storied Swiss fragrance house.

THE NEW SAVANT scents use high quality ingredients and small-batch artisan techniques. We work with one of the top fragrance houses in the world to bring our imaginative scents to life. This means all of our candles use custom-made, premium fragrance oils you won’t find anywhere else. Vegan, too. 😊

We embrace slow-made, handcrafted products.

Many things in today’s world move at such a fast pace, it’s hard to keep up. When it comes to THE NEW SAVANT, we want to bring it back to the basics by creating exceptional analog experiences.

Ingrid draws on her life and imagination to develop unique fragrances that all have their own story to tell. She then brings them to life through the medium of candles, where she leads our production team in making each candle by hand, in small batches, in our Brooklyn studio.

OUR VISION * OUR VISION *

A rebellion against who we are told to be and who we choose to become.

The name, THE NEW SAVANT, pays homage to the self-made path in life. We know from climbing our respective ladders that intelligence is embodied uniquely in each individual, and that's something worth celebrating. Growing up, we weren’t always (or ever) the trendy or popular one – but we were original, independent and curious. Most importantly, we sought to find ourselves, to be ourselves. We took our own paths. That’s THE NEW SAVANT.

  • When it comes to our products,

We blend small-batch artisan techniques with one-of-a-kind olfactory experiences. Our products are infused with personality and are meant to live with you.

  • When it comes to our business,

We believe in the integrity of our craft, long-term sustainability and conscious growth. That’s why we’re taking things slowly and thoughtfully with THE NEW SAVANT.

  • When it comes to our community,

We value connection and relationships that are built through openness, kindness and mutual respect. We also know life is constantly unfolding and there’s always room to learn more. We believe in practicing flexibility, taking in new information and making the best decisions with what we’ve got.

Ingrid Nilsen

A lifelong creative and one-time college dropout, Ingrid Nilsen is the Co-founder, Maker and Chief Creative Officer of THE NEW SAVANT. She loves working with fragrance, dreaming up new scents and bringing her online community slow, IRL experiences that connect on a personal level.

Prior to founding THE NEW SAVANT, Ingrid spent 10+ years as a YouTube creator. She built an inclusive space for her 6+ million followers with lifestyle and beauty content that encouraged radical self-acceptance, challenged cultural norms and embraced change through personal growth. In 2011 she was honored with the Streamy Award for Best Beauty Program and was the first digital creator to land a long-term endorsement deal with Covergirl. She went on to be the face of BareMinerals, helping them to launch new products for a broader range of skin tones, and later, was proud to develop original products with Jo Malone London and Fresh Beauty.

Since retiring as a professional content creator in June 2020, Ingrid has been reconnecting to her roots as a maker, crafting candles by hand, mixing scents and dreaming up THE NEW SAVANT. This new chapter is an homage to her untraditional, self-made path in life.
