We're Lowering our Prices

Nice to see you here. Below is a note I sent to our Cozy Club community (you can join by signing up here) about our recent decision to reduce our prices (without compromising on the creativity or quality of the product).

Hi Everyone,
I’ll cut right to it: we are lowering our prices. Nothing about the product has changed – same fragrance oils, same materials, same recipe. And to be extra clear: we didn’t get here by using cheaper materials or downsizing. We found ways to lower prices around the product, without cutting corners.
Before I share how we’re doing this, I want to give you some context.
About a year ago, we hit a wall. The cost of our raw materials was increasing. So too was the cost of shipping. We couldn’t pay ourselves a sustainable wage and for the first time in four years, we couldn’t offer bonuses to our team. Raising the price seemed like the obvious choice, so that’s what we did. We raised ’em.
What we didn’t fully grasp was that this increase would make us a less accessible choice to the very people we’re building this business for: you.
We got your emails. DMs. We had conversations. We noticed you were waiting for coupons and sales (we get it) or asking to pick up orders to skip the price of shipping. We also received feedback from some of our loyal customers when we did a price test with them. The answer was clear.
So we rolled up our sleeves (and I mean rolled them up) and dug deep into our numbers. We turned things over, found costs we could improve, and we’re choosing to pass some of that back to you, without changing a single thing about the product itself. We ultimately came up with a way to drop prices while still making enough to power the next batch, the next drop, the next format.
Over the next few days, we’re going to open our books a little and show you how we landed here.
In the meantime, here are the new prices that will go live on Tuesday, March 10th:
$38 — 7oz candles (down from $42)
$28 — Discovery Set (down from $29)
$28 — Mist (unchanged)
One of my most beloved mentors, a journalist, once told me not to spend too much time “Monday morning quarterbacking”. In other words, “Don’t spend too much time lamenting about how things could have gone differently. Just learn from the past, make changes and move forward.”
So in honor of that advice, and all of you, we’re moving forward. We’re building TNS with you, and your feedback genuinely shaped where we landed. We’re excited to keep going from here.
