A Night to Remember at the Fragrance Foundation Awards

A Night to Remember at the Fragrance Foundation Awards

by Erica Anderson

Hi, Friends!

Last week, Ingrid and I had the incredible honor of presenting at the Fragrance Foundation Awards β€” a big, sparkly night for the fragrance world. As two people who entered this industry just a few years ago, not through a traditional path, it was surreal and deeply meaningful.

We presented the Consumer Choice - Popular Award, which goes to the fragrance that wins the popular vote. We were so happy to hand it to Bath & Body Works for their fragrance Platinum β€” and it was a full-circle moment for us. Bath & Body Works was a staple in both of our childhoods β€” mine in Indiana, Ingrid’s in California. Sweet Pea was her go-to; I was obsessed with Peach Nectar. (What about you β€” did you have a favorite?)

There was one other part of the gig. Before announcing the winner, we were encouraged to share a sentence about why we’re passionate about fragrance. It was a fun challenge to each write tweet-sized blurbs, so after some brainstorming, we landed on what felt most authentic and real.

Here’s what we said:

Ingrid said:
β€œAs a queer, mixed race woman, fragrance is how I take up space and make myself heard without having to say a single word.”

And I said:
β€œTo me, fragrance is a way to shift culture β€” whether by combating the rise of loneliness or celebrating a wider range of identities, the nose is leading a new era of rebellion.”

Afterward, we were met with so much love. People from all corners of the industry came up to tell us how much our words meant to them. It was a reminder that speaking from the heart always works, and that there’s a real hunger for new voices, new energy, and new stories in this world.

Thank you to the Fragrance Foundation for making space for us. And thank you β€” truly β€” to every single one of you who has supported The New Savant from the beginning.Β

Now, back to work. :)

With so much love and gratitude,
Erica
